It seems like air fryers have taken over 2020 and the craze doesn’t seem to be disappearing any time soon!
The main selling of an air fryer is basically, use little to no oil while cooking and you no longer have to get attacked by oil popping bubbles! You can essentially cut back on fat, save time, and cook all your dishes at once. Some models even have added features like a toaster oven and rotisserie so you can make your favourite dishes in so many ways while saving countertop space. It’s also not limited to just cooking, you can also bake your favourite sweet treats like muffins and cake pops!
We’ve put together 3 easy and tasty recipes you can make at home in minutes with an air fryer! These recipes all use a basic air fryer and with little oil or ghee. Let us know what’s your favourite!
1. Tempura Avocados
Tempura avocados or fired avocados are an appitizer classic. They are simple to create and perfect for your vegetarian and vegan friends!
This recipe is perfect for adding an extra crunch that you can’t get when you opt for the baking option. With the air fryer method, you don’t need to skimp on flavour, crunch and texture to get a healthier option in a pinch.
All you need are some ripe avocados, flour, oil (or Kissan Ghee), chilli powder, garlic powder, salt & pepper, and one egg. Also, you can use Kissan Fried Onions as a part of your coating mixture is a great way to add extra flavour and crunch to your avocados.
Let your air fryer to the rest in just 8 minutes!
- 1 tbsp Kissan Olive Oil (substitue Kissan Ghee for more butter taste)
- 3 tbsp Kissan Fried Onions
- 2 Medium sized ripe avocados. (make sure they are not too soft otherwise it will fall apart)
- 1/4 cup All purpose flour
- 1 Large egg
- 1/2 tsp Chilli powder (can substitue chilli flakes for more spice)
- 1/4 tsp Garlic powder
- Salt & black pepper to taste
Slice up your avocados and pat dry to remove any excess water when washing and set aside on a tray or plate. In a large bowl combine your flour, fried onions, garlic, and chili powder, salt and pepper.
In a seprate bowl, whisk your egg and start coating your avocado slices starting with the egg wash that your flour mixture. Repeat if you feel like you need more a coating but 1-2 time should be more than enough.
Set your air fryer to 400 degrees for 5 mintues and coat the basket with your olive oil or ghee. Place your avocado slices in the basket and let them fry! Adjust the time based on your model of air fryer, so you will have golden brown and crispy avocados.
Once completed take out your basket and flip over any slices that still need to fry and set cook time for another 3 minutes. Remove once ready and garnish with cilantro. Enjoy with your favorite dipping sauce!
2. Curry Poutine
Ok,this by far is the easiest and a definite crowd favourite and you don’t need that much time! Poutine is such a Canadian staple dish and you can make so many different varieties like our Butter Chicken Poutine, that the possibilities are endless!
To make your life easier you can use frozen fries, instead of making homemade ones, but honestly with an air fryer making homemade fried is not that hard or time-consuming. All you need are some Yukon potatoes, Kissan Curry Sauce, cheese curds, chilli pepper, salt & pepper, and some oil and your favourite toppings like diced chicken. You can also make it vegan friendly by swapping the cheese curds for vegan cheese and top it off with cauliflower bites instead of chicken.
- 1 bottle Kissan Gourmet Curry Cooking Sauce
- 1 tbsp Kissan Ghee (or Kissan Olive Oil)
- 4 Medium Yukon potatos (you can subsitite frozen fries to save time)
- 1/4 tsp Chilli poweder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- 1/2 lbs Boneless chicken (diced or cubed)
- 1/2 cup Cheese curds
To make your fries wash, peel, and cut your potatoes in to thick (1/4 inch) long slices and make sure to pat dry to remove excess water. Coat with your oil or ghee and your seasonings and place in air fryer tray at 380 degrees F for about 15 mintues. Skip this step if you are using frozen fries and smiply cook as you normally would. Make sure to salt, pepper and chilli powder your fires while they are hot so the oil can hold your seasonings.
In a pan heat up your ghee under medium heat and start suateing your diced chicken for about 5-7 mintues. Now pour in your Kissan Curry Sauce and cook for 10 mintues. Take off heat and set aside.
Place your cooked and salted fires on a plate and using a ladle pour your curry sauce over the fires and make sure to include a few chucks of the chicken. Top off with your cheese curds and enjoy!
3. Garam Churros
Now lets end on a sweet note with these tasty churros that are just to die for! Churros are actually not as hard to make as people assume, espically with an air fryer.
- 1/4 + 1 tbsp cup Kissan Ghee (use 1 table spoon to line basket)
- 1/2 tbsp Kissan Garam Masala
- 1/2 tsp Kissan Tea Masala
- 1/2 cup All purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Milk (you can susbititue oat milk )
- 2 Large eggs
- 1/4 cup Castor sugar
- 1/8 tsp Cinamon
- 1/2 tsp Granulated Sugar
- 1/4 tsp Salt
In a pan heat up your ghee and pour in your milk with saltunder high heat. Once your milk starts to boil, lower heat to medium and bringto a simmer while you are still stirring. Shift in your flower and keepstirring until a dough-like texture is formed. Take your dough of heat and letit sit for about 5-7 minutes.
Once cooled, mix in your eggs until all is blended togetherand start to scoop your dough into a pipit pastry bag with a star tip at theend. If you don't have one you can make one with a plastic lock bag and cuttingthe tip.
Set your air fryer to 340 degrees F for 7 minutes and makesure to coat your basket with either ghee or oil. Slow start to pipe dough intostrips straight into the air fryer basket. Keep each churro about 5-7 incheslong for even cooking.
Get your coating ready by mixing your castor sugar,granulated sugar, garam masala, tea masala and cinnamon in a bowl. Once yourchurros are ready start to roll them in your coating while they are still warmfor a stronger hold.
Enjoy with hot fudge sauce, caramel sauce, condesed milk, or even starwberry sauce!
